Media rumors indicate that Kate followed in the footsteps of her mother Carole Middleton, who had revealed that she lost weight through Dukan Diet at the time Prince William announced his engagement to Kate.
The Dukan diet is the brainchild of Dr. Pierre Dukan, a French family practitioner. His book “The Dukan Diet” sold over a million copies in France and the good doctor has now brought it to the United States in April.
The diet per se appears to be a modified version of high-protein Atkins diet and consists of four phases
* Attack phase where foods with high-protein like beef, fish, eggs, cottage cheese (paneer), shellfish and tofu must be grilled or steamed and consumed.
* Cruise Phase where pure protein and protein-plus-vegetables are consumed on alternate days
* Consolidation Phase where two meals per week may consist of foods that were forbidden in the previous two phases
* Permanent Stabilization Phase where all foods are permitted except on one day of the week where only protein is consumed.
The Dukan diet is not without side effects as constipation, dry mouth, bad breath and fatigue can hurt dieters due to lack of adequate carbs. However with people still drooling over the slim and radiant looks of Kate Middleton, the Dukan diet is all set to scale new highs in the coming days.
