One of the first side effects of the lemonade diet will probably be a headache. Headaches will definitely be experienced by people used to starting their day with a jolt of caffeine. Since the lemonade diet prohibits caffeine, you might suffer a sort of withdrawal until you get used to not having caffeine in your system.
Some people say they experience severe hunger while on the lemonade diet. Respectfully, these same people would probably experience severe hunger on any diet, not just the lemonade diet. You are going to be changing your eating habits while going through the regimen of the lemonade diet. Depending upon what those habits were, you will be more or less severely hungry. Also, you will experience cravings while doing the lemonade diet. The cravings, just like the hunger, will depend upon your eating habits before you started the lemonade diet. If you are used to eating three full squares a day plus snacks and the like, you will experience real hunger and strong cravings. If you had a sensible diet with reasonable portions and healthy food, your hunger and your cravings will be less severe.
Since one of the benefits of the lemonade diet is supposed to be an increase of energy, you might be surprised to find out that one of the side effects of the lemonade diet is lethargy. You will, initially, suffer a bout of tiredness or feebleness. This is because you stopped ingesting toxins and your body is turning its attention toward ridding itself of its stored toxins. The fight your body begins, at this stage, is a draining one. It takes much energy for your body to deal with those stored impurities. So, as you begin the lemonade diet, you might feel drained at first. Just hang in there. This is a signal that the lemonade diet has begun to work and soon you will feel an increase in energy, as the impurities leave your body.
You are most definitely going to suffer stomach cramps and more frequent bowel movements. The stomach cramps will usually come with the bowel movements. This is just a natural reaction to elimination of bodily toxins through the lemonade diet. You might also experience watery bowel movements during the lemonade diet. Watery bowels are not uncommon, but if this condition persists longer than a few days in a row, you might consider consulting a physician. The lemonade diet might also cause a burning sensation in conjunction to bowel movement. Many of your bodily impurities are acidic and that is why burning in the bowels may occur during the lemonade diet. This condition could persist for as long as seven days without being indicative of anything serious.
