The lemonade diet is a plan conceived and written by Stanley Burroughs in the 1940s. The lemonade diet, in its current format, goes back to a booklet published around 1976. At its heart is the theory that you can improve your health and mental stability through a detoxification cycle like the one outlined by the lemonade diet.
The fear is that the lemonade diet possesses a large amount of potential danger and possibly, long-term serious effects. The lemonade diet is a fast. No solid foods or fiber are eaten during the course of the lemonade diet. Experts say that the potential for harm grows the longer you remain on the lemonade diet.
Your immune system resides in your intestinal tract. We all know how important the immune system is to good health. It is possible, some suggest, that the lemonade diet can cause long-term negative effects to your body’s immune system. When you do a deep fast, like the lemonade diet, you can clean out the good bacteria from your intestines. The bacteria help digestion and support the immune system. No one knows how long it may take to regenerate or what risks you run with its elimination during procedures like the lemonade diet.
Some authorities say that no one has presented any evidence that you need some kind of detoxification diet in order to eliminate toxins from your body. They suggest that the human liver does a fine job without any help from the lemonade diet.
Others point out that the lemonade diet is a starvation plan and that the first thing to be consumed when your body believes it is starving is fluids and lean muscle. This means that the result of a starvation diet, like the lemonade diet, is that the person weighs less, but at the cost of hydration and lean muscle. Belly fat is not generally lost through a process like the lemonade diet. Starvation diets also effectively turn down a person’s metabolism. If you are on the lemonade diet long enough, the body mat adjust and once you come off the diet you will have slowed your metabolism. This is the opposite affect of what a dieter wants.
Starvation diets like the lemonade diet are, generally, not good for you. The weight you take off usually comes back and if you have lowered your metabolism, it will now take fewer calories for you to gain back the weight you lost on starvation plans like the lemonade diet. You might also lose weight because of a loss of muscle. So, at the end of a starvation diet, like the lemonade diet, you could wind up having more fat than you do muscle. While this might not pose any immediate threat to your health, it certainly is not a desired outcome.
Experts recommend a diet with lots of aerobic exercise and plenty of healthy food. A quick fix is never a good thing when it comes to dieting. The key to weight loss is adapting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, not putting yourself through the rigors of the lemonade diet.

I think so that every one of us is unique. Each one of us would have a distinct way dieting. Every one of us in all aspect is different from the other. So it is really true and advisable that we should consult the right person about the proper way of our diet. What may be good for the other person may also be good to us.

i read this somewhere nd like to share :
This dietary regime is strictly a cleansing diet. Weight loss will occur, but it is not to be equated with fat loss. Much of the weight that is lost will be from fluid and water retention. Indeed, it states that at least 1/2 the weight will come back on after completing the diet. Many people incorrectly use this for fast weight loss. This is not what the diet is intended for.

Lemonade diet implies that you will not take any solid food during this period. This is what is meant by starvation. This may affect your intestine adversely. Lemonade diet is not friendly for the good bacteria present in the intestine which ‘help digestion and support the immune system’. But Gandhiji used fasting as a form of protest on several occasions during the Indian freedom movement. To end fasting he used to take a glass of lemon juice. He was always physically and mentally strong.

I just wanted to say that any diet that needs you to miss out one or more of the food groups is bad for you.
The key to long term weight loss is not by fad dieting or restricting yourself to just a handful of food groups. The only way to lose weight and keep if off it to go about it in a sensible, healthy way.

I am an active person who runs 3-5 miles a week. I love the cleanse. I do it about every 4 months and it helps regualtes my desire for sugary foods and resets my taste buds.

I’d be interested to know how long you have been doing this diet for Angela, and how you survived it the first time round.
Have you known any side effects at all, apart from probably hunger pangs?

I believe this lemonade diet is suppose to be started at an young age to stay as the so called zero size. But, while going through the detailed side effects and damage to the immune systems, one should be in constant touch with their dietician or GP.

I did this cleanse 2 times. Once for 20 days and the other time for 14 days. It does wonders for the body. Out of it, I am now a vegetarian and will never again eat any form of flesh! It is fantastic to do at least 2-3 times per year. And yes, you do lose lots of weight.

Too much of lemonade diet may cause even tuberculosis. I wonder what lemonade has got to do with tuberculosis. There are of course instances which clarify that a great in take of lemonade is harmful for the body.

Lemonade diet should be safe for two reasons. Lemon is a vitamin provider. Secondly it provides a supplement to calcium base. There should awareness camps conducted to discuss the advantages of lemonade intake. The benefits of lemonade may be debated at length during such awareness programs.

I did the lemonade diet a year ago and lost 15lbs in 2 weeks. It does really work. If you need to lose weight fast, say for a wedding or college reunion, it can get the job done. I wouldn’t recommend doing it often, though.
