So for the first question how on earth did this name catch on, maybe the diet naming person was on vacation so they just went with a simple name. No the fact actually is that it is named this because you should be able to do this diet even if you are an idiot hence the name idiot proof diet. So let’s talk about this whole calorie shifting concept. This concept came to be because over time your body becomes used to the amount of food that you feed it. As a result it settles into a nice comfortable pattern and is used to what is going on.
Then you change things so drastically that your body panics and thinks that it is being starved of food. This is when the problems start and your body adjusts to compensate for the lack of calories that are being taken in. As we all learned in school our bodies are natural storage for fat. This fat is used and burned when the body is low on food and this will cause your metabolism to slow in an effort to save fat for further down the road. This is what leads to a diet not succeeding as your body shuts the effects of the diet down and you actually maintain the amount of weight that you have.
This is why it is important that you shift calories. This will help in the process to trick your body that there has not been a change in your eating habits. The way this works is that you will eat say 2,500 calories at the very beginning, as time progresses you will reduce this number down to 1,000 the point is to trick your body into not realizing what has happened therefore you tend to lose weight. The key to your success on the idiot proof diet is to never allow the body to get used to a certain eating pattern. Keeping the body second guessing will lead to you losing weight and as a result you will get the results that you have sought for the last several years while chasing dream diets with lofty promises. If followed correctly the idiot proof diet can be effective and will work in getting you to your weight loss goals.

It definitely has a good concept and I love the name, but I’d like to hear from some people who have been successful on this diet. It doesn’t seem to me like it would be too easy, but I could be wrong.

The concept of tricking yourself is good since it will trick the body to think that it is not loosing something but the fact is that you are losing some fat.
We all know that we need fat to be use as energy for those tedious works. It we can only trick the body then it would not notice the loss of fat that is present on our body.
