Most doctors will provide you with certain foods to buy for your 1500 calorie diabetic diet. But for a 1500 calories diabetic diet, certain foods can easily be substituted for another. For example, a slice of bread can be replaced by a ¾ cup of dry cereal in order to make sure that the diet stays within the calorie limits. When adhering to a 1500 calorie diabetic diet, many doctors provide you with a chart that shows you what you can substitute in the place of specific foods.
It is important for a 1500 calorie diabetic diet to include a breakfast consisting of two portions of breads or other form of starches, such as toast or dry cereal. You should also be sure to consume a small serving of fruit, a cup of low fat or skim milk, and some sort of fat, such as a teaspoon of butter on your toast. For a 1500 calorie diabetic diet lunch, the 1500 calorie diabetic diet plan suggests you have about two ounces worth of meat or other protein as well 2 sources of starches. There should also be one vegetable, like tomato slices or lettuce leaves. Again, you need to eat a fat, for instance a teaspoon of mayonnaise.
In order to satisfy the requirements of a 1500 calorie diabetic diet, experts suggest that you eat about 4-5 times a day, instead of the
average 3 square meals. This keeps you from getting too hungry, which in turn prevents overeating. After lunch there is an afternoon snack in the 1500 calorie diabetic diet consisting of a cup of skim or low fat milk, one portion of vegetables, and some source of a fat, such as two teaspoons of salad dressing that can be eaten with a vegetable. For dinner, a 1500 calorie diabetic diet would be allotted 3 ounces of meat, like lean turkey, 2 starches or bread, such as a baked potato or dinner roll, one source of fat, for example a teaspoon of butter or margarine, two vegetable servings, and one portion of fruit. After dinner, the 1500 calorie diabetic diet allows the dieter to have 1 portion of bread, which could give way for something like three graham crackers and a portion of meat, which can be replaced with a meat substitute, such as cottage cheese. These easy meals perfectly complete your 1500 calorie diabetic diet plans.

I think I’m going to sent this link to my mother, who is pre-diaetic and the doctor is trying to keep hr from stepping that step to diabetic. So I actually wonder if she is on a diet like this, but it seems like hers is…much more…strict. She can’t eat just about anything these days, it’s rather sad but at least she is not on her way to a earlier than necessary grave.

I should try this since I am suffering from diabetes. I wonder why my doctor didn’t mention this diet to me before.
Is I because she is not aware of this kind of diet?
Four to five meals a day? Maybe some of the meals that are mentioned here are just snacks.
